Hello Everyone!
Its been too long. I’m sorry! I have been swamped in the last month with so much school work and also having COVID. I thought I would share my experience of it!
I do want to first begin by saying that I believe I am very lucky to have only had the symptoms I did and I completely appreciate there are some who are not as lucky and so this is simply my experience and I can’t speak for everyone.
I began having symptoms at school on the Monday morning, and I had a really sore and swollen throat, and it developed into what I thought was a cold by Tuesday. I really didn’t think anything of it as we had been told covid was a dry cough, which I did not have, nor a temperature etc. It was Tuesday afternoon that we were pulled out of lessons to be told that a girl in our bubble had tested positive and we all had to isolate for 2 weeks. It was this point my a couple of my friends and I thought we should mention the symptoms we were having and we were assured we didn’t have it but they would test us anyway, incase. The sent our tests away that night and we were told we would get the results in a day.
Let’s just say we didn’t get them in day. By the time we got them on Saturday afternoon, and I tested positive, I had been through the worst of my symptoms. I felt extreme fatigue, a really sore throat and very painful headaches and although I never had a temperature, I had hot flushes yet would shiver almost all the time. Because I am dumb instead of resting like others, I was determined to not fall behind on schoolwork and online school. This is my opinion in why it took me so long to recover fully. For a few weeks after I was no longer contagious I still shivered when I wasn’t cold and had headaches that were really painful. I did also find that my recovery in sport took much longer, as in after becoming breathless it would take much longer to slow my breathing.
Overall, I am aware I was very lucky to get off lightly, but it still wasn’t fun. If anyone has any questions then I would be happy to answer them! I will be getting back to some school style posts on my a levels now that I am settling in.
Lots of love,
Lara xx
